Where the Grass Grows High was written while Brea was visiting family members in Australia, in early 2020. After years of being on the road touring, it took time alone on her parent’s farm to realise that she had completely neglected her relationship amidst the excitement of a travelling around Europe playing music. She finally understood that you can’t expect a relationship to thrive without being intentional about fostering and nurturing it. Soon after writing this song, Brea was placed into an extended lockdown in Berlin giving her endless time with her husband. The irony.

This song is special to us because it reminds us of what is really important. After the 18 months we’ve all collectively experienced, there seems to be a renewed appreciation for the most basic human need...connection. That’s what this song is all about.

Where the Grass Grows High was inspired by the realisation that life can easily get in the way of what’s important. Amidst our busy lives we need to be intentional about putting time and effort into the relationships we value, and prioritise adventures into the wild where nothing can disturb you. Lay down in tall grass and hold each other close before the lark sings her morning song.
